Hello All...no, I'm not wearing a skirt around my neck...certainly you recognise this soft funnel I'm wearing. I have to wear it because I'm not suppose to bite at my paw. Why? Well, the other day Mom noticed that I was having problems peeing so she kept a close eye on me especially after she saw blood in the litterbox...she managed to catch some of my pee then it and I had to go to the vet. At the vet they shaved my stomach and did an ultrasound. They saw that I have crystals in my bladder and that I am dehydrated so they put a catheter in my arm (which hurt like #$()*%!! so I nearly chewed a hole in that damn straightjacket they put me in) and have given me infusions. Today is my third day of having an antibiotic/saline cocktail infusion and I am feeling better. The doctor says I have to drink more water...but I'm NOT THIRSTY!!

Oh, Tiny...We're sending you lots of purrs and healing Light and hoping you are better soon. If you are on a dry food diet, your mom really needs to switch to a canned one. If you're already on a canned diet, we're stumped. We boys like chicken flavoured water--our mom will open a can of Almo (just shredded meat and water for processing, no vitamins or minerals or taurine) and add warm water to it. We like to drink that. So maybe your mom can do something similar if she doesn't already. Just nothing with spices, like store-bought broth.
It's so hard, because we kitties evolved to get our water from our prey, not from the water dish!
Big kitty kisses to you and hugs to your mom!
That is very bad of Ellwood to be laughing at you, Tiny! I do not think it is funny at all. In fact, I feel very badly that you have bladder crystals. I think Kea has some great ideas about getting you to drink more water. I also wonder if maybe you are stressed out because of everything that is going on right now at your home with Ellwood, and with Lautrec. Maybe some Feliway or Rescue Remedy is in order in addition to the stuff the vet is doing for you.
Poor Tiny! That sounds so ouchy. We purr and purr that you will feel better asap.
We heard that it's sensible to place the water bowl away from the foor bowl. "In the wild" one wouldn't want to drink from water that's close to feeding places because the water could be contaminated... and that remains an instinct. It's also goood to place the bowl in strategic places. Ours are right next to a door we frequently walk through so we're always reminded too drink, because the water bowl is right in our face. A drinking fountain, preverably a ceramic one, might be a good incentive too. Anyway, we know your humans love you lots and bet that with their good care you'll heal quickly. Take care!
Many purrs,
Siena & Chilli
Poor Tiny, we are so sorry to hear you have bladder crystals...It seems you have lots of great advice; our Mom has done lots of those things for us concerning the water, but we also get the water off of canned tuna and canned chicken that Mommy eats and we really love it...Don't worry about what Ellwood thinks, sweet girl=he's just a silly boy...We hope you feel better soon, gorgeous friend...We are purring loudly for you to recover quickly...kisses...Calle, Halle, Sukki
Oh Tiny we are so very sorry to read that you are feeling less than purrfect. Thank goodness for a very observant Mommy...
We hope each day finds you feeling better and you get unpluged very soon.
big hug,
madi
I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well Tiny. It does sound like you are making some progress though. My sisters and I all are sending purrs your way and we all hope you're all better soon!
Tiny, we will purr HUGELY for you to feel better. We agree 100% with Kea, our Grayce had bladder stones so Mommy switched us to a canned diet and she is totally better, if not cured! We get canned food "soup" as Mommy adds a lot of water to it so we all get lots of H2O. We have 3 fountains and we get chix-hen broth when Daddy poaches a chix-hen.
Mommy says don't let the vet sell you a "veterinary" kibble...it's full of inferior proteins, plus it's DRY!
Lots of love, the Lounge 13
poor dear Tiny! You must drink your water, even if you aren't thirsty.
Awww I am so sorry Ellwood is laughing at you....
Please get better soon! It makes me sad to see you not feeling well
Sending you kitty kisses, love, caren and cody
Tiny, no, I'm so sorry you're not feeling well! I like what Siena and Chilli said. Our water bowl is completely separate from our food bowls and that made a huge difference in how much we drink. There are a lot of other good ideas here too on hopefully getting more liquid into you, little sweet one. Please keep us posted!
Oh No, Tiny! We jut hate to think of you not feeling 100%! We would like to offer to teleport over and "take care" of anyone who dares to laugh at you. But, above all, we would like to send lots purrs, woofs and neighs to help you get 100% better very soon.
The Chans, Tommy, Vidock and #1
Dear Tiny, you going through hard times. Jim has the same thing than you last year, and now he is very well.It takes only a short time to get better, and then , you'll have special food to eat, and all you'll have to do is to drink a lot.Don't worry, all that will be soon a bad memory. And don't care for Ellwood now, take only care of yourself; And remember: love is the best drug to go better, and we are sending a ton of it to you!
Oh poor Tiny, I'm sorry you are not well and have the nasty crystals! I have a flowing fountain that really encourages the boys to drink, maybe Tiny would like one too?
Oh, sweet Tiny, we are so sad that you are having problems. We are purring as loudly as we can in hopes that you will soon be A-ok again....if it helps, please know that we love you.
Blast Ellwood for laughing at you.......he'd better be careful, cuz his time will come!!!!!!! But he is a young cutie and probably really doesn't realize that.
We love you and all of yours, Tiny. Get well soon!!!!!!!!
Oh Tiny darling. Be sure it will all be gone soon and you will feel better, keep drinking beautiful lady and I am just about to put water bowl aside from my Kiara´s food bowl because there IS something in this idea for sure :) And so you know - I am seeing Mr E tomorrow so I will have a serious talk with him on the subject of laughing at your necessary device around your neck - you know what - even better - I am going to bring some baby doll skirt with me and I am going to put put it on the little guy and then he will know where he stands :-D Lots of purrrrrrrrs.Iakia
Oh Tiny! We're sorry you're not feeling well!! We hope you are better soon! Others have given you some great ideas about how to drink more water. We agree...canned foods are better and adding water to it helps lots!
Hmmmmm, Kiara here...well, if I can share my humble opinion - my stomack does not agree with the canned food at all... my mum is having breakfast so I will not go into details........ anyway, too much of the canned food though is not good for our teeth which get rotten quite easily from the sauces and the soft stuff that stays on our teeth...and well that is equal to your human teeth.... so there...oh... hmmm? brushing MY teeth? HA - I do not recall human predecessors brushing our predecessors´ teeth...my human mum just tried once....she has learned her lesson ;o)
Tiny, looking forward to seeing you again some day.Looots of smooches :-D
oh Tiny, we are gutted that we didn't know yoo were poorly. We are sending yoo healing purrs. please feel better soon.
Oh...we knows about pee problems...Brighton was very sick in June, but he is doing great now, and we have water in every room now, just for him, and add water to his canned food (so well, everyone gets more water) and cats are 'desert' creatures so they don't drink a lot of water but get it primarily in what they eat, so adding water to Tiny's food will help a lot!
