PLEASE, PLEASE HELP the Big Cats (Lions)!!

I know you love cats or you wouldn't be here looking at my blog so I am asking you to take some of that love of 'little' cats and give it to big cats..in this case to LIONS.

PLEASE!

WHY? Because whether you are aware of it or not, lions are being 'farmed' for hunters to kill. This means that they are held in captivity (all their lives) and the females are forced to have babies which are taken away from her at 3 days old and hand-raised by humans. All cats are kept in pens their entire life and are often in contact with humans. At the age of 5 years old, the lions are 'released' (to a larger pen) where a hunter is waiting to shoot them. This is called 'Canned Hunting' and it has become very popular in South Africa in the last 10 years.

This lion was killing an antelope when she was killed...look at the smiles on these people's faces? How can they smile over the dead body of such a beautiful creature?

The hunter pays a lot of money and expects to take home a lion trophy. Lion farming assures that the hunter - be it a man or woman (yes, there are a lot of woman hunters killing lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars and other big cats!!) goes home with such a trophy.

These smiling idiots killed a WHITE lion...look how beautiful he was. :o(

I find this to be a sick, sad and horrifying 'industry'. Lions are already endangered. Trophy hunters say they are 'conservationists', but where is the conservation in killing animals that are endangered? Where is the conservation in killing? Hunters are just trying to justify their bloodlust. Many, many of these hunters come from the US, while a good number also come from Europe. For this reason several petitions have been created targeting US and EU governments.

You don't have to believe me, just google 'canned hunting', 'Melissa Bachman' 'african safari' (e.g. http://www.intrepidsafaris.co.za/), etc...and you will enter into a world that - if you are like me - will turn your stomach and make your blood boil.

These 'canned' lions (the term for lions brought up on farms), don't stand a chance in hell. In some cases they are even drugged so as to make the kill easier or to transport them to a place where the hunter can get 'points' for shooting a 'wild' lion. I find this all incredibly sad, disturbing and sick and it breaks my heart to imagine these majestic creatures suffering like this simply to pacify the greed of a hunter who has too much money (they pay about $38,000 each) and too much time on his/her hands.

Please, please, please..if you love your little lion(s), think about the big ones and sign the petitions to stop lion hunting, canned hunting, trophy hunting and to put a stop to importing lion parts (the Chinese think that lion bones hold magic cures) or lion trophies. If we can block all the routes perhaps enough pressure will fall on the canned lion industry to stop. We must try And we must be the voice for all those big cats.  They have no voice. Please. PLEASE HELP THEM!

Please sign and share these petitions. PLEASE!!!

This is not right...this beautiful creature should be protected and not hunted.
