The Wood's Wednesday - Fur-not-ever

It's summer;
it's hot out;
my furr falls everywhere;
I'm hot;
the ticks love to burrow into my fur...the other bugs too.
What to do?
Me 'BEFORE'

Me 'NOW'

I know my tail looks a bit like a rope,
but I'm liking this look...
and it feels so good, too!!

BTW: I never knew I had so many spots!!
When all my furr was shaved off, I turned into a mini-Dalmation!! Sorry this picture is kinda fuzzy, but I don't like to hold still for photo shoots!

Wednesday - Wood - Water

It's Wednesday...it's 'The Wood's day' and today's theme is 'WATER'.
But 'why water' you ask?

Because water is so good;
yet so awful;
yet SO WONDERFUL!!

I know, I sound a bit confused here, but bear with me, please, while I explain. You see, I love to drink water, BUT I HATE TO GET WET...yet, once I AM all wet, I feel so GOOD! So, now you are wondering how it is possible for me to get all wet if I hate to get wet. Well, lately, the weather has been really warm...even a bit 'hot'. Me, like many flowers, I tend to wilt a bit in these hot times. So, Mom has this wonderful idea to gently (sometimes less gently) put me in our pond. I hate it and try to get away, but to be honest, once I get out, I feel so delicious that I run laps around the garden and jump for joy. Am I crazy??

Oh, BTW, yes, that IS me in the above picture, but it isn't our pond...it is our friend's pond and no, I did not go in it...I just went to look at it and thank my lucky paws that our pond is smaller and has stairs!! But isn't this a pretty pond? If I was a water dog, I'm sure I would be in it in a heartbeat, but, well, this little doggie ain't that kinda dawg!!

The Wood's Wednesday

Dogs and cars; cars and dogs...they just go hand in hand don't they? Well, I'm still not sure if I like cars (does that make me a cat?). I'm not one of those jump-in-the-car-as-soon-as-a-door-is-open dogs, but if Mom (or Dad) tells me to get in the car I do. Sometimes I just sit there (usually feeling a bit icky in my tummy).

I do like to watch out the window in case I see another dog so I can bark at it or at least whine. BUT WAIT!! WHAT IS THAT?? That CAN'T be a dog!! Oh, that is just too freaky looking!! There is NO WAY that that is a dog!!

But mostly I look out at the passing countryside. This time of the year is best...so many vivid colors!!

Usually though, I succumb to a deep sense of drowsiness....before I know it I forget where I am only to wake up when we are home...or when the flashy beast rudely snaps me out of a great dream!! Apparently I'm not the only one who sleeps in the car...Dad always talks about Grandma snoring up a storm..or did he say 'cutting logs' whenever she used to get in the car? What I don't understand is why Dad wishes Mom would sleep in the car....that is a total mystery to me!!

I guess the real truth is that whenever Mom tells me to get in the car I'm wishing that it is because she is going to take me to a playdate with my buddy Barsik. OoooI haven't seen Barsik in soooooo long...hmmm, maybe Barsik knows how to drive!! Man, can you imagine just me and Barsik driving around...ha!! We'd be having a howling good time - FOR SURE!!

Frozen Gardening Thursday - The Woofer Speaks

OK, here it is, Thursday - gardening day - and up until now I have stayed out of the gardening posts, but today, I have been FORCED to post for those lazy cats.

Why? Because they refuse to leave their warm beds (just like me - hehe!) because not only did we have snow falling yesterday, but overnight the temperature dropped several degrees BELOW ZERO (freezing - we're talking Celcius here)!! When we all got up this morning and looked outside, we nearly cried because the peonies (among others), which were growing so nicely - no blooms yet THANKFULLY - were all bent over and were covered with bits of ice!! Last week it was sooo warm and wonderful, but now that it is May...we have this cold crap (sorry about that strong word, but I'm just not happy!)

BRRR!! I'm going back under cover now....see you when the sun comes back!!

The Wood's Wednesday - How to Hide Stuff

Hi there everyone!! Today I'm going to show you how I hide stuff. Hiding stuff is fun and there are so many things to hide..you know, like shiney treasures (car keys, house keys, a phone, etc.), bones, toys, one of Mom's favourite shoes (just one! NOT both!), or, as I chose for today's demonstration, a doggie cookie.

OK, this is how I do it:

1. Hold the treat firmly in your mouth and take it out into the garden.

2. Find a good hidey place for it (Suggestion: its a good idea to scope out potential hidey places ahead of time so you don't waste time looking for one when you need to hide something in a hurry).

3. Dig a hole.

4. Put the cookie in the hole and push the dirt over it using your nose.

5. Keep pushing that dirt cuz you gotta make sure you cover it good!!

6. Suggestion: Don't let anyone see your hidey place!!

7. There you are!! All done!! One other suggestion: clean your nose off before you go back in the house or your Mom will know what you have been up to and will follow you the next time she gives you a cookie.

Good luck!!

The Wood's Wednesday

I must be REALLY smart because sometimes my head feels so heavy that I just need to rest it on something.

I especially like to rest my big brain on the pillows on the couch.

The Wood's Wednesday

I love taking walks!!

Walks in fields are great for romping around.

But my favourite is the forest.

Where I love to DIG....

...and dig...

...and dig...

...and dig...

...and DIG!!!

Too bad the only thing I ever dig up is dirt!!

The Wood's Wednesday - Bad Me

Look at my sweet, innocent face.
I don't look capable of doing anything (ANYTHING) bad, do I?

But I am...and I did.
Yep.
I PEE'D ON MOM'S LEG!!
(I know, GEEZ! WHAT was I thinking??)

I swear I thought it was a tree.
(And that is the story I am sticking with.)

Friends on Friday

Yeah, I know, this title is a bit deceiving, but let's just say that I'm hoping one day it will be totally true...for every day of the week.

To make this dream a reality, I have come up with a plan: to be as close to Lautrec as I possibly can, whenever I can.

Whether when we are outside sitting in the sun (in which case I will block the sun from Lautrec's sensitive eyes)...

...or inside sitting with Mom (where I will make sure that Lautrec's ears are nice and clean).

I really, really want to be friends with Lautrec and I think...I HOPE...that one of these days he will break down that growly barrier and just let me be his bud. Please support me in this effort and bombard Lautrec with messages about how I am a great guy and would certainly make the greatest of friends...if only he would just let me. Thanks, I need all the help I can get!!

P.S., I think he is already breaking down a little...I mean seriously, if he didn't like me cleaning his ears, don't you think he would have flashed those razor sharp claws? Look at his claws in that last picture, you can't even see them...hmmm, I must be doing something right!! Woo hoo!!

The Wood's Wednesday

Ok, so I don't know if we mentioned it, but we had to spend the last 2 weeks in our city home in Prague because Dad was in Switzerland during that time and Mom decided to stay here in the city and do city stuff. On the down side, this meant no leash-less walks for me ANYWHERE and no romps in the forest. BUT! On the up side it did mean lots of walks around Prague and meeting plenty of other doggies and people and I love, love, love other doggies and people.

We are back in our country house today (Yay!!! I'm doing a dance right now!), but I thought you might like to see a couple of pictures taken on one of our many, many walks in the city. Even if you don't know Prague, you have probably heard of the Charles Bridge...we walk by it and on it ALL THE TIME, but there is a special place below it that Mom and I really like because it is amazingly calm and almost no tourists and there are birds there...swans...they are so pretty...and so BIG!! I think I am secretly in love with swans!!

Friday Boredom

{Sigh}
I'm bored.

I don't know what to do with myself.

{Sigh}
Maybe I'll take another nap.
