Gardening Thursday - WHERE IS MOM???

Mom left us.
Nope...not to turn the compost
or to pick something up at the store.
She's left us to visit Paris.
Yeah...THE Paris.
What does Paris have that we don't?
The only thing that comforts us is that we KNOW she will be back soon.
Why? Because she can never be away from us for very long.
But still....this coming Mom-less week is going to feel very long!!

Until she returns, I guess we'll just have to stop and smell the roses...
and the poppies and peonies.
And my compost garden will just have to reach new heights without me being there to watch over it.
Sigh.

Climbing rose - Pierre de Ronsard
(the only one SOMEONE can remember the name of!)

Shrub rose

Tea rose - smells sooo good!!

Purple poppy

Red, white and lavender poppy

Peony

Oh Maaaaaaaahm...come home soon...we miss you.

PeeEss: Make sure to go see Jonesie and what he is up to in his garden HERE.
(I bet HIS mom doesn't leave him like our mom does...
so NOT fair....sniff...snifffff..)

The Wood's Wednesday

Yeah Mom, let's go!! I'm ready for a walk in the city park.

Gosh, nobody is here...do we really have this whole park to ourselves?
Why isn't there anyone else here? Oh, I don't care...it's a nice day and I have the whole place just for me!! Woooo hooo!

Look at the view!

And the grass!!

...and those STAIRS!!!
I'm so glad that we had to climb up all those stairs BEFORE I ran myself silly around the park!! haha!! Now we get to go back down them and home is right around the corner!! Gosh, it's hard to believe that all this fun exists right here in the middle of the city!!

Tiny's Tuesday - Puss n' Boots

Puss AND Boots
No, NOT Puss IN Boots!!
However, given the weird weather we have been having lately
- rain, wind, sunshine, hot, cold, more rain -
I feel like maybe I SHOULD put these things on...
...if only I could figure out how.

Lolo Monday - I am NOT a whiner!!

I realise that this video looks REALLY incriminating, but I have you know:
I AM NOT A WHINER.

Well, not always.

Mom and I took a little walk in the forest on the edge of our property and though I have gone there lots and lots of times, sometimes I get just a little 'irritated'. Weeelllll, tell me that YOU like it when your paws get dirty...or having all those forest plants tickling your tummy and toes. (Sometimes when I go into the forest I feel like things are crawling all over me and it just flips me out!) Having Mom nearby always makes me feel so much better.

Oh shut up you.

Lazy and very Late Friday

AGAIN. But this time we have a really good excuse. Honestly. We are late posting because yesterday was Mom's birthday and since she was busy running around doing dinner for a bunch of family (including 2 extra dogs and 3 little beans), she didn't have any time for us. Besides, we were too busy staying out of sight to go anywhere near the compooter...thus, here we are...LATE. Forgive us. Forgive Mom...I guess when you get as ancient as she is, you just don't get everything done on time that you need to.

For today's show, I am demonstrating to Lautrec how the back rub/tummy exposure move should be executed. At my ripe old age of 16 and a half, I think I do pretty good! I bet Mom can't do this at all...she is prehistoric - would you believe that she is 30 and a half years older than me...Whoa!!! I bet if Mom tried to do this she'd never be able to get back up!! haha!

Gardening Thursday - Watch This Space!

WHAT IS THIS HODGEPODGE OF STICKS AND DIRT?
OK, I agree, this doesn't look like much right now,
but I tell you: WATCH THIS SPACE!!

As members of the Society of Feline Gardeners - SOFG (see here) we just planted several kinds of squashes and even cucumbers in our 'aged' compost pile. It had a year to work itself up into a good bit of soil so we finally turned it (well, I had a lesser being do it for me...no sense me getting my gorgeous self dirty! Heaven forbid!!) and now we have 'officially' planted the seedlings. Why do I say 'officially'? Well, because normally we just throw a pumpkin into the compost in early Spring and wait to see what grows which, in the past, has been masses of pumpkins and miles of pumpkin vines. This year though, Mom decided that we needed to be more civilised - even if the location is not so civilised - about it and grow a more interesting variety of squashes in the compost so she ordered a few kinds of seeds and now all we can do is wait and see what kind of show/exhibit they are going to put on for the whole world to see.

To be honest, I'm not really SURE what exactly you are looking at behind me...

...but I do believe these two guys are supposed to be
a nice marbley green-skinned pumpkin.

I guess we will all have to be patient and just wait to see what comes up....

...but I have to say that I've already got an appetite just thinking about what MIGHT grow.

----------- Flower Power -----------
And while we are in the garden (field) I would like to give this daisy to my pretty AttieCattie and hope that she forgives me for our long blogging absence*.
A flower for my Sweet. (Please visit her blog and also visit the rescue blog she refers to in her post of June 7...please!!)

Honestly, you have to admit that I look pretty darn manly strutting around in that patch of daisies. Tell me you can resist my charm....try!!

(*Note: we were not bloggin due to a forced time-out as a result of some incompetent person at the telephone company accidentally turning our internet off!! Hisss!)

Wednesday - Wood - Water

It's Wednesday...it's 'The Wood's day' and today's theme is 'WATER'.
But 'why water' you ask?

Because water is so good;
yet so awful;
yet SO WONDERFUL!!

I know, I sound a bit confused here, but bear with me, please, while I explain. You see, I love to drink water, BUT I HATE TO GET WET...yet, once I AM all wet, I feel so GOOD! So, now you are wondering how it is possible for me to get all wet if I hate to get wet. Well, lately, the weather has been really warm...even a bit 'hot'. Me, like many flowers, I tend to wilt a bit in these hot times. So, Mom has this wonderful idea to gently (sometimes less gently) put me in our pond. I hate it and try to get away, but to be honest, once I get out, I feel so delicious that I run laps around the garden and jump for joy. Am I crazy??

Oh, BTW, yes, that IS me in the above picture, but it isn't our pond...it is our friend's pond and no, I did not go in it...I just went to look at it and thank my lucky paws that our pond is smaller and has stairs!! But isn't this a pretty pond? If I was a water dog, I'm sure I would be in it in a heartbeat, but, well, this little doggie ain't that kinda dawg!!
